About the Practitioner: Jean Twomey
Greetings! I am a Licensed Acupuncturist with an emphasis in nutrition. I am amazed and grateful to be a practitioner of this gentle and powerful medicine.
I understand how much our health issues can affect our quality of life, and the importance of finding solutions to these challenges. Problem solving is a clinic forte!
I am a 2015 summa cum laude graduate of Northwestern Health Sciences University three-year masters program in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, a licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac.) by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, and a certified Diplomate (Dipl.O.M.) by our national certification commission, the NCCAOM.
I've had a few other careers before finding this passion. I was an officer in the US Air Force, serving 20 combined years active and reserve duty as a C-5 pilot/aircraft commander and a staff officer at the Pentagon, and also worked in the semiconductor industry consulting on production planning and scheduling.
I am a 1992 graduate of the US Air Force Academy, majoring in Operations Research and Economics, and have a Masters of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. I began studying alternative medicine in starting in 1999 order to overcome my own health challenges.
I truly believe that illness can be a great teacher, a spark to ignite a personal transformation. My own health challenges have motivated me to search deeply--these have led to participation in workshops throughout the USA at places such as the Esalen Institute, Omega Institute, the Himalayan Institute, the Chi Nei Tsang Institute, the San Francisco School of massage, the Creation Center--studying energy work, physical modalities, and mental and emotional approaches to healing. This deep dive has also included personal transformational workshops and a meditation practice, to recognize and access the wisdom and answers within.
My husband and I are native Minnesotans, and made Aitkin our home in 2016. I enjoy being a mom, cooking, hiking, tickling the piano keys, spending time with family, and playing a mean game of Scrabble.
Your unique health care situation is important to me. I am happy to answer any questions you may have regarding how I can help you.
